As part of SLAP Festival, Hull-based dance company Tamar & Jo will deliver a 2-day participatory project based on their current performance work, Unseen Beings. The work combines contemporary dance with visual art; performed in an identity concealing, sheet-like costume. Inspired by the Turner Prize 2017 with themes of invisibility, community, and individual vs collective identity, the project looks at the vulnerabilities as well as the freedom and sense of belonging that come with being hidden.
The two-day intensive project will explore these ideas through creative tasks, improvisation and set choreography, culminating in a performance in York City Centre.
We are looking for up to 20 people aged 16 - 80 to take part. Absolutely no previous dance or performance experience is necessary; the process will be inclusive and accommodating to different levels of ability.
Participants must be available for both days of the creative workshops as well as the Saturday performance to take part:
Thursday 21st Feb, 11am - 4pm @ York Dance Space
Friday 22nd Feb, 11am - 4pm @ York Dance Space
Saturday 23rd Feb, 1pm - 5:30pm @ York Theatre Royal
To take part please complete the form below by 5pm on the 8th of Feb.
