The Unsinkable Woman

  • Leeds Beckett Sports Centre (map)

Ever wondered how much your family history has influence over who you are today?

Florence does, and she feels like she has a lot to live up to.
Her great-great grandmother was an ‘aqua star’ who swam in a crystal aquarium tank, roller skating and doing escapologist acts underwater.

Join Florence as she retraces her family line back to the late 19th century, chats with her Nan about the music hall scene and gender politics, and still asks why she has never really been a particularly strong swimmer.

Somewhere between an episode of ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’, a meditation CD, and an imitation of a frog.
