Impermanence - BAAL

  • The Place 17 Duke's Road London, England, WC1H 9PY United Kingdom (map)

After a sell-out performance of SEXBOX in 2018, Impermanence return to The Place with BAAL.

The first ever dance adaptation of a play by Bertolt Brecht: BAAL tackles love, sexuality, betrayal, nature and lust, creating a world of surreal images, extreme physicality and high drama.

Set alongside a film combining new footage with archive materials, and an original soundtrack composed and performed live by electro-acoustic musician Robert Bentall.

"Brecht created his monster in 1918 as he struggled to come to terms with the carnage of the First World War. For him, the poet Baal symbolised the pitiless denial of personal responsibility he saw all around him - and it's as a symbol that Baal is still depressingly relevant, both as a philandering egotist and as a representative of the self-serving plutocratic elite who are ravaging our planet." - Greenwich Visitor Blog

"engrossing and entertaining with consummate artistry by all concerned". - ★★★★ StageTalk Magazine
