About the evening:

Live Art Bistro is back again... gyrating its way to York for one night only.

DRYHUMP is the perfect blend of amusement, carnage and cabaret. A fun, carnivorous cabaret salad one might even say. A salad with glitter boots and tweed jackets, topped to the brim with queer performance, grimy games and dancing shamelessly.

Your bodies are welcome and your sprits will be wrangled sexily into the night.

We gonn slam, slap, pound and pump… Forget the heritage… This is YORK GODAMIT.

KEVIN LE GRAND – Liverpudlian. Woman. Troglodyte. Age, indeterminate. She scrapes the dregs of her life & obsessions into genre denying performances, about such philosophical things as The Cheeky Girls, her horrible hangovers, and the insides of her handbag. The work is a conundrum of live art & cabaret, some of which has been part of ART NIGHT, HOMOTOPIA, and FIERCE. Her monstrously moving piece ‘Where the Fuck’s my handbag?’, takes you on a journey inside the handbag… and beyond! To a realm no handbagger has handbagged before…

Katy Jalili: Evil Eye/I Evil Eye/I is about how race, gender and queerness intersect. It explores the diaspora experience within a queer vision. It explores a yearning to reconnect with lost culture and heritage due to migration. The small pleasure in reenacting small ritualistic gestures such as burning incense as a way of cleansing the oppression and trauma restored in our bodies and freeing one’s self from systems of oppression. But also how one's cultural background can be in conflict with their queer culture. Exploring questions such as "what it feels like to wear yout grandmother's necklace whilst wearing a heafty black leather harness? Katayoun (Katy) Jalili is a genderqueer Iranian artist based in London. Their work explores race, gender and eroticised intimacy within a feminist framework, using elements of humour and performativity. Their practice consists of performance, text and digital media.
