About the work:
SOFTCORE BOUNDARIES is a performance exploring the voyeuristic qualities of safe spaces.
During the residency in which it was created we looked into the idea that there might be an inherent queer energy attached to our existence, and that even naked and in stillness we would be “clockable” somehow. We then wanted to create an open space, where people would feel safe enough to be challenged, and where the discourse about queer bodies and their agency would have an opportunity to happen.
Performers - Antonio Branco and Riccardo T.
Created at Dans I Blekinge, Sweden.
About the company:
Antonio Branco & Riccardo T. are a performance art duo based in London.
Their work is about the body and its presentation. Its physicality, aura, psyche, and identity.
Drawing from their own experiences their work primarily focuses on the queer body, the energy inherent to such a presence and its social implications. Their research then branches out into related themes of contemporary sexuality, gender norms, porn consumption, and fetishisation of actions and bodies.
The work is open. We don't want to present a finished stagnant piece, but rather a work receptive to change throughout its longevity in the space while being responsive to its audience.
SOFTCORE BOUNDARIES is a live art piece. The piece is approximately 45 min long. The barbed wire is real, please do not touch the barbed wire.
Please feel free to go anywhere around the space. You do not have to sit, you can stand and walk around the space as the piece goes on. You can shift between this two modes, as often as you want, however you want. Be aware of blocking other people's view.
If the performance becomes too challenging for you feel free to leave the space. You're allowed to come back if you want to. If you feel the urge to talk to the person next to you please do so in a quiet and discreet manner. Watch with responsibility.
